Community Schools
North Hagerstown High School has been designated a Community School by the state of Maryland. There are currently over 700 community schools in the state and 23 community schools in Washington County.
Community schools receive a budget from the Concentration of Poverty grant. During the first year of being a community school, these grant funds are used to provide a Community School Manager and a school nurse as well as wraparound services for students. During the 2025-2026 school years North High will work with staff, students, parents and community members to complete a Comprehensive Asset and Needs Assessment. This needs assessment will be submitted to the Maryland State Department of Education in the spring. The needs assessment will help the state determine the level of funding that will be provided in future years.
